Johannes specializes in international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and sports arbitration. He has broad experience with major arbitration rules, including CAS, ICC, NAI, UNCITRAL and ICSID. He also acted before domestic courts and the Court of Justice of the EU. Johannes advised and represented clients in a wide range of industries, including banking, energy, media, sports, transportation and construction.

Johannes studied in the Netherlands (Utrecht and Amsterdam), France (Panthéon-Assas) and the United States (Columbia). He holds a doctoral degree in public international law and teaches a course on international investment arbitration at the University of Amsterdam. Johannes is a frequent speaker at international conferences and he regularly publishes in leading academic journals, focusing on questions of treaty interpretation and international dispute settlement. Prior to joining Lévy Kaufmann-Kohler, Johannes worked in the banking and arbitration departments of an international law firm. He is admitted to the Dutch bar (Amsterdam).
