LKK TEAM SUCCEEDS BEFORE CAS

LKK partners Antonio Rigozzi and Sébastien Besson, together with senior associate William McAuliffe, represented FIFA in the CAS proceedings (CAS 2016/A/5003) brought in February 2017 by Mr. Jérôme Valcke, former Secretary General of FIFA. On 23 February 2017, Mr. Valcke appealed against a decision rendered by the FIFA Appeal Committee on 24 June 2016, which had established that Mr. Valcke had violated multiple provisions of the FIFA Code of Ethics and banned him from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of ten years and fined him CHF 100,000. On 27 July 2018, a three-member CAS Panel composed of the Hon. Michael Beloff QC, Prof. Ulrich Haas and Prof Massimo Coccia (presiding), unanimously dismissed Mr. Valcke’s appeal and upheld and confirmed the FIFA Appeal Committee’s decision.
