William McAuliffe is an Irish-qualified lawyer specialising in international sports arbitration and international sports law.
He has acted as counsel in numerous arbitration proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) and regularly advises a wide range of clients on sports-related disputes.
William previously worked in the litigation department at Matheson in Ireland, before undertaking a Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport and focusing his practice on this field.
William’s practice is primarily focused on football-related matters, as well as cycling and basketball-related disputes. William also regularly acts as counsel before the disciplinary bodies of major sports federations including FIFA, UEFA and Euroleague (Basketball). William’s clients include international federations, clubs, athletes and member associations, as well as sports administrators.
He is the author or co-author of publications on international sports arbitration and has lectured on this topic in Switzerland, Ireland and Turkey.
