LKK TEAM SUCCEEDS BEFORE CAS

LKK partners Antonio Rigozzi and Sébastien Besson, together with associates William McAuliffe and Fabrice Robert-Tissot, represented FIFA in the CAS proceedings brought in March 2016 by FIFA’s ex-President, Joseph S. Blatter.

On 16 March 2016, Mr Blatter appealed against a FIFA Appeal Committee decision sanctioning him with a six year ban and a CHF 50,000 fine in connection with a CHF 2 million payment in 2011 based on an alleged oral agreement concluded with ex-UEFA President Michel Platini in 1998, as well as the award to Mr Platini of contributions under the FIFA Executive Committee retirement scheme.

A three-member Panel composed of Messrs Patrick Lafranchi, Andrew de Lotbinière McDougall and Manfred Nan (presiding) unanimously upheld FIFA’s position that Mr Blatter had violated several provisions of the FIFA Code of Ethics. On this basis, the Panel fully confirmed the FIFA Appeal Committee’s decision.

The full version of the award is available on the CAS website.
