Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler elected as ICCA’s next president
LKK partner Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler has been elected as the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA)’s next President.
Established in 1961, ICCA is a worldwide nongovernmental organization devoted to promoting the use and improving the processes of arbitration, conciliation and other forms of resolving international commercial disputes. Its activities include convening international arbitration congresses and conferences, sponsoring authoritative dispute resolution publications, and promoting the harmonization of arbitration and conciliation rules, laws, procedures and standards.
Prof. Kaufmann-Kohler has served on the ICCA Governing Body since 1998 and was involved in a number of ICCA events and projects over the years, including as Co-chair of the Organizing Committee for the commemorative conference celebrating ICCA’s 50th anniversary in Geneva in 2011.
Under ICCA’s governance structure, Prof. Kaufmann-Kohler will take office as President-Elect on 1 April 2017. She will then succeed the current President, Donald Francis Donovan, as of 1 April 2018, for a two-year mandate.
