LKK wins case before CAS

In CAS 2015/A/3874 Football Association of Albania (FAA) v UEFA & Football Association of Serbia (FAS), LKK partner Antonio Rigozzi and associate William McAuliffe represented the FAA in its appeal against a decision issued by the UEFA Appeals Body on 2 December 2014. The Appeals Body decision had confirmed the prior awarding of a forfeit against the FAA further to incidents that occurred during a European Championship qualifying group match between Serbia and Albania in October 2014.

In an award issued on 10 July 2015, the CAS panel upheld the appeal filed by the FAA, finding that responsibility for the incidents and the ensuing match abandonment lied with the Serbian FA, not the FAA, and awarding the 0:3 match forfeit against the Serbian FA. The CAS award will be decisive in Albania’s qualification for the final phase of the Euro 2016 in France.
